This simple little trick, in my mind, is one of the simplest uses of essential oils as air freshener.

If you have never tried putting a few drops of your favorite essential oil or essential oils blend on a flat cotton ball, you will be amazed at how long the cotton retains the smell. It literally smells good for several weeks.
The energizing lift that comes from smelling peppermint or lemon is easily achieved while driving or working in an office cubical. Just pick up the cotton ball and take a whiff.
Essential oil scents do not have to be overpowering to be beneficial. For those who are sensitive to their environment, including natural smells, the scent of the cotton ball will not overpower a space. I’ve found the cotton ball technique to be particularly useful in small spaces like a closet or car anywhere that using an electric diffuser would be impractical.
You can pick up a package of the flat cotton balls in any drug store for a few dollars and it will last a long time.
